...people. But to be specific, I hate everyone. No just kidding, only almost everyone. Anywho, what I would like to discuss is something that has come to my attention recently. I hate it when people say they don't like Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace only because of one benefactor, being Jar-Jar Binks. Here is how this seems to be brought up when discussing star wars.
Dodo-Head : Aww man, episode three was so awesome man. It totally makes up for the first two sucking.
Me: I didn't think the first two sucked.
Dodo-Head: They weren't the same as the original trilogy though man.
Me: Well, yeah but it's not so much a trilogy as it is a six set movie. It all tells the one story.
Dodo-Head: Yeah but episode one and two weren't that good. This one was great, we finally get to see vader and it's so sweet man!
Me: Yeah but in reality Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker, whom we've seen in both episodes one and two. All the movies are really about him still.
Dodo-Head: Yeah I know, I just think the first movies are bad.
Me: I like episode one though.
Dodo-Head: No man, Jar Jar Binks is so horrible.
OK, so I added the first parts just to get another point across; kill two birds with one carbine if you will. Anyways, always when I mention Episode 1, the first response is what dodo-head said there. That has nothing to do with the overall movie. How does one side character ruin the entire film for you? I don't understand why people are so narrowminded when it comes to something they know everyone has seen. They feel if they don't conform to what late night hosts and stand up comedians are saying about popular stuff, people will think they are stupid. Who knows, maybe you think I'm stupid, but fortunetely I'm not; I'm a genius. Give me another reason why the first movie was bad. Did you not like the pod races, something entirely new to the star wars saga? Did you not like getting to see Tatooine again, the same planet the original series took a lot of time on? Or no wait, I know what it is. You don't like the fact that they arranged an amazing last action sequence, comprised of anakin going into space battle for the first time, amidala escaping in great fashion, and then the "horrible" lightsaber battle between Qui-Gon, Obi Won and (in my opinion the best character beside anakin) Darth Maul. I mean, I can understand when you're given a long action sequence, that is amazingly choreographed by the way, how it could ruin the movie for you.
So besides this movie being amazing and in my opinion, better than Return of the Jedi, it is completely useless because we have to see Jar Jar Binks. He does seem to ruin the entire full-length movie with his combined.. oh who knows.. 10-15 minutes of screen time? Anyways, you're all entitled to your own opinion on this matter, but just remember kids...
Jon Says: If it's not Jon's opinion, it's the wrong opinion.
